Ben

Ben dying was most traumatic. In hindsight we should have called the vet but I was home alone and wasn't sure how these things are done. The result was a 3 day epic. Ben was a lovely dog but a pain in the arse. Having friends to dinner was a nightmare and going for walks was a drag. Not a boring type of drag, more of a dragged through a bush type. He was a bit posh, we always felt we were beneath him.

Blog reboot

Wow, I haven't blogged on this one for almost 10 years. Thought I would re invent it rather than starting a new one. I have so much to say I don't know where to start. A lot has happened in 10 years. I tried to summarise with a few words but failed. Over the coming weeks I plan to fill in some of the details.

This blog was the start of my writing career. I never used to write anything, never kept a diary. Actually that's not true, I did keep a climbing diary for several years. Not particularly interesting to read, mainly descriptions of moves and mild bragging. Writing a diary that no one reads seems a bit pointless but at least you can imagine some one is reading a blog. I wasn't good at writing at school, my spelling and grammar were atrocious, they still are. At school you get penalised for this but this is my blog I will write it how I please.

Pearson were looking for someone to write a physics text book. One of their publishers found my name on a list of workshop leaders, Googled this blog and thought it might be interesting to combine my slightly wacky writing style with my knowledge of physics. Luckily they also employ editors.
