Igelkjøn

Another day bouldering, quite warm but nice wind. Some of the more damp spots are now starting to dry out Igelkjøn is one of those.
Started the day with a full English breakfast with my advisees. I work at a United World College, its a residential school with students from all over the world living in the middle of bouldering heaven at haugland. This morning a student from Thailand told me how to kill a pig with a long knife "just push it right through" forgot to ask which part of the pig you push it through though. Hope the bacon we had for breakfast wasn't Thai.
Back to the boulder; did a problem of "Bachen's" (7b) couldn't touch it last year. He heal hooked it I, with my increased power and reduced flexibility, powered it without the heel. Also did some old cløasics like the one in the pic. Almost all problems on this boulder are 7a+ this is no exception.
Have to go to Dale this evening to be a "natt ugle" that means walk around the streets incase there is trouble, hmm, not sure what I'll do if there is.

The Car

Another mark of spring is the appearance of the Spifire. It's a 1975 1500 that I imported from England last year. My first car was a blue one that I bought when I first got a job teaching in Coventry (the home of the car). Took out a loan equal to my first years salary before I had even done a days work. The blue one had a hard top, my mum didn't like the idea of me driving without anything over my head, she used to try to get me to wear a helmet climbing too. This is a picture of it taken by JY classics the place I bought it from.

The Jewelery

Fine weather. Went bouldering on a rock covered in red crystals that I call the jewelery. It's been sat on an island at Haugland since the ice age. Did one of the hardest problems on the boulder called the crown, grade7b. Did it statically which is more than I could do before building the moonboard. Looking forward to see if I can do any of my old projects.

When I wrote the last entry I didn't have time to put in a picture and I can't see how to edit my last entry so I'm writing a new one ( well actualy I have now found out how to edit so have now pput it in the right place).
Here is the picture of the crown, it wasn't taken today but some years ago. Notice the open-hand
crimps,I always do that since full crimping hurts too much.
It's a very nice spot own by the Fjord, I can even see it from my house.

First Time Blog

OK, so this is the first post. Decided to start this blog because i am getting fed up of writing to myself on discussion forums. Noticed I had made 6 postings in a row in a Physics forum and thought if I'm going to talk to myself I might as well start blogging.
Thomas (he's a student, more about him some other time) asked me today why I'm writing a blog, after thinking a while I reckon it may be one of those things to do before you're 50 lists, you know those crap lists you get on the internet. Well these all start with B, a sort of B4 you're 50 list:
Grow a Beard (started)
Write a Blog (started)
Climb 8b (Well I have a little over a year)
