100 years party

I've written a lot about parties in the past so it's time i wrote about our party. I tend to write about things from long ago so I guess this will come up more and more as time goes on. Must be something to do with how the brain works as you get older the older bits of memory start to resurface.
Hilary and I had this big party since we are both 50 this year, a sort of 100 years party. Not sure if it was on exactly the 100 year day and can't be bothered to work it out. About 30 people came from abroad (Britain and France). They were almost all people that we have both known for a long time and all connected in some way to the British climbing scene. We had planned a party for the saturday night but we ended up partying every night for a week.
It was great to see old friends again. Wonderful to know such a great bunch of people who came all the way to Norway and ended up doing the dishes at our party. Hilary organized pretty much all of it and I was supposed to do the food. Almost managed but not quite, was very touching the way everyone simply rallied round and got on with it.
First time I've danced to Lynyrd Skynyrd since the Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute band played the dale Kroa 12 years ago. The picture is not of us dancing to this track, the movements were probably to fast to capture on a digi camera.

lillingstonheimen

I've got a theory that since google own blogger then if you mention something in a blog it will come high up on a google search for that topic. I noticed this when searching for lillingstonheim my blog was first on the list. Now I am trying with lillingstonheimen to see how far up I can get. It takes some days before the text will be found by the search engine though.
Today I sent back the last of the proofs for "the book". I hope they make all the corrections cos there are some really bad errors at the moment. Not mine but the graphics department. So I guess that's it. Not a totally pleasant experience lets hope its OK and sells a few, the cash might make up for the suffering.

Seen um come seen um go

The start of another year at RCNUWC and another group of students have arrived. Everyone is as always very keen to get to know everyone on the first day, name games, name badges, lists of names, wrong names changing names. I don't get this thing about names, what's wrong with taking a bit of time? If you know someones name do you know then at all. I have decided I don't do name games, I hat5e being put on a spot. I remember doing what was called "house bank" at Atlantic college. The students, who I knew very well, would come along for money and I would have to find their name on a list. Quite often I'd simply go blank and not be able to remember someones name who had been at the college for 2 years. I'd say "hmm, can't find your name on the list", they'd then hopefully point it out. Never had much of a memory that's why I did Physics. I can always remember faces though, sometimes pretend I can't if it's obvious someone can't remember me, why should I remember them if they don't remember me.
Intro week is same as ever, this year we are cutting all the small trees down that have grown behind the student houses. Here is a photo of what it was like before.
